Everyone knows that they should make sure that their data is secure.
But it’s kind of like insurance, you don’t really feel like you need it until you wake up one day and you are really glad you bought the premium plan.
The thing is…
Data security isn’t something that is mandated by federal or state law, so unlike insurance, you have the option to run your company with or without data security measures.
But, if there is one thing that we have learned in our years of experience with businesses large and small, it is that having data security measures in place is one of the most important things that you can do. It may be a pain to put into place but it will save you in the long run.
So here are some ways that you can improve your data security to ensure that your business continues to run without any issues.
1. Strong Passwords
I know that it can get annoying whenever a website or security network won’t allow you to use the password “passwords123” but they have a reason.
You have to make sure that your passwords are as secure as possible if you want to stand a chance against all of the malicious activity on the internet.
We recommend at least 12 characters with uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and a few special characters.
2. A Strong Firewall
A strong firewall is an absolute must.
It will monitor and filter all internet traffic coming into your business and prevent potentially malicious websites and software from across the web.
